Personal and Professional info

Born in Adelaide, I moved to WA with my family in my teens and although artistically somewhat talented and definitely inclined, waited until I was married with two small children and living in Port Hedland to commence formal art studies.

I studied for the Diploma of Art at Hedland College in 1982 and continued my studies there until I moved with my husband and children to Wickham in 1985.

In 1986 I taught pottery in Wickham, undertook an art study tour to Java, Indonesia and established a jewellery making & fabric printing/painting facility for the Roebourne aboriginal community.

I took prizes for best local watercolour in the Hedland Rotary Art Show in 1985 & 1986 and in 1987 won the Most Popular Work in Show at the Cossack Art Prize show.

In 1988 I held my first solo exhibition of drawings and paintings in Exmouth, a resounding success. I also taught drawing and watercolour painting at Karratha College annexe in Wickham.

From 1988 until 1991 I worked predominantly in watercolours with success until I sailed off to Indonesia with my husband and children on our yacht where I lived and painted for 3 years.

Returning to WA in 1993, I commenced to paint again and when I moved to Margaret River in 1994 I began to experiment with bright vibrant colours and changing styles.

When my husband and I bought a small farm in Boyup Brook in 1996, we designed an art gallery and artist's studio for the property. Construction of Tanah Indah Gallery was completed in July 1997, and formally opened with a successful solo exhibition in August 1997.

I undertook an extensive painting trip to France in 2001 and spent much of my six months in the Dordogne region sketching and painting local landscapes.

On returning we moved back to our home in Fremantle where I worked from my own studio in Packenham Street, experimenting with modern styles and various paper-based media.

I again moved to France with my husband in 2010 and lived on our canal barge, travelling extensively through rural France, gaining inspiration from the scenery and history while painting mainly rural landscapes and architecture.

Returning after 3 years in France, my husband and I bought a small farm in far south Tasmania where we built an art gallery/studio and picture-framing workshop and drew inspiration from the unique countryside and coastline.

We moved back to WA to be closer to family and the artistic inspiration and now paint in watercolour, acrylics and pastel both from my atelier in Collie and, when the weather permits, manage to experiment with extensive plein air painting..

I am a long-standing member of the Watercolour Society of WA and have frequently exhibited with the Society.
